If so, the Microsoft Azure Storage team is what you are looking for. We are building Microsoft’s cloud storage solution - Microsoft Azure Storage, which is a massively scalable, highly distributed, ubiquitously accessible storage system, designed to scale out and serve the entire world. We continue to have tremendous hockey stick growth, we have many Exabyte’s of data stored, and are designing and building systems for Zettabyte scale to support demand growth for the coming years.

As a Service Engineer on the Azure Storage team, you’ll work on varied tasks and projects. The primary focus for this role will be to troubleshoot/debug/automate new hardware validation systems which will accelerate the velocity of new hardware enablement. We are part of a massive distributed system so the individual will need expertise in debugging complex multi system issues as well as identifying ways to continuously scale. You will face challenges of monitoring, analyzing, and designing for ever-growing data needs of our customers and for ensuring data privacy, protection and compliance. Responsibilities

  • You’ll implement high-performance solutions across teams while maintaining a quality checklist with minimal help. You’ll also monitor telemetry data and perform analyses to identify patterns that reveal errors and unexpected problems.

  • You will respond to incidents by identifying the level of impact, troubleshooting basic issues, deploying the appropriate fixes, and implementing automations to prevent recurring issues. You’ll also follow prescriptive guidance for security, privacy, and compliance standards.

  • You will collaborate within and across teams by proactively and systematically sharing information. You’ll also support your work with others by proactively managing dependencies.

  • You will improve the development and operations of systems, platforms, or product features by sharing insights and best practices. You’ll do this by participating in design reviews, incident drills and debriefs, and regular meetings.

  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guides other engineers by developing and following the playbook, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, alerting stakeholders about status and initiates actions to restore system/product/service for simple and complex problems when appropriate.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication or related technical discipline

Other Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years technical experience in software engineering, network engineering, or systems administration

  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication or related technical discipline AND related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in software engineering, network engineering,or systems administration

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
