GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, performs skilled, semi-skilled, and routine work in pool and related facility
maintenance, including the following areas: Installation, maintenance, modification and repair work,
facility cleaning and sanitation, building repair, minor plumbing and electrical repair. Work is of some
complexity, requiring individual judgment within prescribed standards.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
o Maintains proper pool and water chemistry and circulation at the aquatic park and City spray parks;
applies and handles pool chemicals safely using proper safety and personal protective equipment
(PPE); implements departmental policies and procedures to comply with Federal, State, and local
hazardous materials, health and safety, and hazardous waste regulations; routinely inspects,
maintains and tests equipment and supplies including but not limited to automated testing and
chemical delivery devices, heaters, alarm systems, pumps, sand filters, motors, pool fittings, and
hardware
o Maintains aquatic facility buildings and grounds to include general custodial and maintenance
responsibilities for showers, restrooms, and deck maintenance, including hosing, power and acid
washing; assists with aquatic facility annual preventative maintenance program
o Works collaboratively with staff; purchases equipment parts, supplies, and chemicals; maintains
storage and inventory.
o Performs manual labor and general construction including carpentry, framing, painting, light
plumbing, concrete work and maintenance of public buildings
o Installs equipment; performs general repair and building maintenance tasks in assigned City facilities;
assists other maintenance or skilled trades; works on special projects and assignments; removes
snow
o Performs overtime as needed and other duties as assigned
SUPERVISION - RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS:
Supervises assigned temporary/seasonal employees.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to the following:
o High school diploma or G.E.D
o Two (2) years of progressively responsible work in Facility Maintenance or pool maintenance
o Possession of a valid Kansas drivers license
o Ability to obtain a Certified Pool Operator certification within one year of appointment.
