Job Description

This is a continuous posting for various locations around the state of Michigan. At the time of applying, there may not be a vacancy at the location you prefer. However, your application will be valid for 6 months. After 6 months, you MUST reapply for continued consideration.

Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) are a statewide network of vocational rehabilitation professionals developing creative, customized solutions that meet the needs of individuals and business. We deliver individualized services that assist potential employees with differing abilities to prepare for, pursue and retain careers. Positions carry out a range of professional rehabilitation counseling services, including vocational guidance, physical restoration, training and placement to persons with disabilities. Informs community resources and general public of vocational rehabilitation services within assigned geographic or program area.

Positions are located within a Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) office. You can view the supplemental questions for the various cities offices are located.

Employment Option : Hybrid/Flexible Schedule available based upon satisfactory performance and/or operational need.

Required Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a master’s degree with a major in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, guidance and counseling, special education, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or physical therapy.

Rehabilitation Counselor 10

One year of professional experience providing rehabilitation counseling services equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor 9.

Rehabilitation Counselor P11

Two years of professional experience providing rehabilitation counseling services equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor, including one year equivalent to a Rehabilitation Counselor 10; or, three years of professional experience providing rehabilitation services coordination equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator, including one year equivalent to a Rehabilitation Services Coordinator P11.

Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
